At 27 years of age, Austin McCarl enters 2020 for his 8th year behind the wheel of a sprint car.
Throughout his racing career, Austin has shown great success as both driver and mechanic. Many years of part-time duty in a racecar, while also wrenching on his father Terry's car - winning two track championships at Knoxville Raceway and Huset's Speedway (2012), had him hungry for more action.
2017 showed the true talent that the Altoona, IA native has when he was given the opportunity to drive for TKS Motorsports. Austin qualified in the 11th position for his second career A-Main start at the Knoxville Nationals, as well as finishing 3rd in season points at Knoxville Raceway.
In 2018, Austin got his first career feature win at Knoxville Raceway and then went on to win five more times that season. Austin achieved his first 410 Knoxville Raceway Championship in 2018.
After finishing 3rd in points for his second time at Knoxville Raceway in 2019, Austin picked up another win at Jackson Motorplex to finish off the season, making it his 14th career win.
Other highlights include: Rookie if the Year at Huset's Speedway (2011), Winner of the $10,000 to win Huset's Speedway Finale (2014), 360 Knoxville Nationals Hard Charger (2019).
It has been a longtime dream of Austin and his wife Alyssa to start their own race team, and in 2020 they plan to do just that. McCarl will fulfill his duties as mechanic and driver of Deuce Five Motorsports with friend and World of Outlaw mechanic, Brandon Ikenberry for the 2020 race season.
